European cities are always attractive and popular tourist destinations, regardless of the season. Paris, Barcelona, or Rome attract crowds of tourists every year thanks to their stunning architecture and rich history.

However, the more popular a city is, the greater the risk of encountering scams. Experts have included the main tourist centers of France, Spain, and Italy in the anti-rating of cities where travel fraud is common.

Criminals are quite inventive, so they always come up with new ways to deceive gullible tourists. Recently, the so-called bracelet scam has been spreading. There have been many reports on the web that you can run into scammers near major tourist attractions.

TikTok user Stephanie, an American who was vacationing in Rome, said she had seen a scam near the main tourist attraction, the Colosseum.

A warning for anyone traveling to Rome or any major city in Europe. There is a scam where a guy usually approaches a man and says: "Do you want to buy this bracelet for your wife or girlfriend", and the guy says: "Yeah, I don't know, maybe".

"Don't do it. Don't talk to these people, they become very aggressive. Don't take bracelets when someone offers them to you. The scammers are just trying to get you to take the jewelry, and then they will be aggressive and try to extort money from you," emphasized Stephanie.

Jessica Dante, a tourism expert, also warned travelers about the bracelet scam that has been sweeping Europe.

Couples need to be more careful, as the scammer plays on romantic emotions, making one of the partners feel obligated to take the bracelet.

It's not even about rude behavior or extortion. The bracelets and all the activity around them are just a way to distract you and steal your stuff. While one attacker will be shouting loudly and forcing you to pay the highest possible amount for the bracelets, the other will quietly take your partner's wallet or valuables.
