In Zaporizhzhia, there were two direct hits to the DniproHES, at HPP-1 and HPP-2. It is unclear whether HPP-2 will be restored, as it was seriously damaged. One pillar was hit, and crane beams were smashed.

Ihor Syrota, director of Ukrhydroenergo, said this. "We will have to completely restore the engine room and electrical equipment. We will calculate the consequences during the day and understand what happened. And whether it (HPP-2 - Ed.) will be able to operate. And whether it will be able to work, in particular in a limited mode, or whether it will not be able to work at all for a certain period," he said on Radio Liberty.

There is currently no threat of a dam break at DniproHES. Both stations are not working yet. Syrota also noted:

  • "There are no casualties among the employees of DniproHES.
  • The plant is taking all measures to raise the gates and allow water to flow downstream.
  • Ukrhydroenergo will be able to give a final assessment in some time when the fire is extinguished. The consequences will be calculated during the day.

"I hope that the world will react to the strikes that are again being inflicted on Ukraine's critical infrastructure. The insufficient reaction of the world community to the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant provoked the fact that the enemy did not see any major consequences for itself. That is why Russia continues to attack Ukrainian hydroelectric facilities. This is a great danger that could lead to an environmental disaster," he said.

On March 22, Russia damaged a number of critical energy infrastructure facilities. The war criminals shelled the thermal power plant of the State Energy Company of Ukraine and the Dnipro hydroelectric power plant. Emergency shutdowns and preventive shutdown schedules were introduced in Dnipropetrovs'k, Poltava, Sumy, Odesa, and Donetsk regions. Kharkiv was completely de-energized.

As OBOZ.UA reported, on March 21, the occupiers launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine. The enemy took to the skies 11 Tu-95MS strategic bombers, which launched 31 missiles from the Russian cities of Volgodonsk and Engels. On March 22, the Russians attacked the Ukrainian energy sector.
