Tyshlek submits a resignation report after the scandal with his wife's Russian passport

The deputy head of the National Police, Dmytro Tyshlek, has submitted a resignation report. Earlier, a scandal arose around him as his wife had a Russian passport and was linked to a Russian criminal authority.

The press service of the National Police of Ukraine informed OBOZ.UA about Tyshlek's resignation. He claims that he did it of his own free will.

The press service of the National Police confirmed to OBOZ.UA that Dmytro Tyshlek had written a letter of resignation from his position.

In a comment to the media, he assured that he did so of his own free will.

"I decided to write a letter of resignation from the post of deputy head of the National Police of my own free will. I submitted it to my superiors for signature," Tyshlek told reporters.

In the fall, Tyshlek's name was at the epicenter of a high-profile scandal. As it turned out, the high-ranking official rented a house from a partner of a Russian criminal mastermind. His wife, despite the full-scale invasion, still has a Russian passport, and his mother-in-law supports Russia in the war against Ukraine.

While Tyshlek himself called the information "distorted and untrue," journalists discovered that his wife used her Russian passport to travel to Crimea, which was temporarily seized by Russian troops. She also traveled to Russia.

The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption responded to the scandal, saying that they were monitoring Dmytro Tyshlek's lifestyle.

On November 2, it became known that the deputy head of the National Police had been suspended from his duties, and the Interior Ministry had ordered an internal investigation. However, on December 17, he returned to work, and the ministry said that "the internal investigation found no grounds for his dismissal."
