Denmark has allocated 40 million Danish kroner (about $6 million) to restore Ukraine's energy system after Russian missile attacks.

The decision of the Danish government was announced by Lars Ogård, Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities of Denmark, at a meeting with Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko on April 8. The funds were allocated through the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy reported.

"We thank Denmark for this leadership and your example, which was subsequently followed by other countries. Now the Fund is an effective mechanism for helping the energy sector, through which equipment for restoration and repairs is purchased. This strengthens the resilience of our energy system," Halushchenko commented on the assistance.

The meeting also focused on the current needs of the Ukrainian energy sector and measures to ensure the stable operation of the Ukrainian energy system during the next heating season.

"Energy is being used as a weapon in the war against Ukraine to exhaust the Ukrainian population. For our part, we will do everything we can to help ensure the reliability and sustainability of its energy supply," said the Danish Minister.

This is not the first aid package that Denmark has provided to Ukraine. Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Denmark handed over BMP-2 and T-72 tanks, armored engineering recovery vehicles, ammunition, and drones to Ukrainian defenders. The total cost of the aid was estimated at 3.7 billion Danish kroner or 520 million dollars.
