Croatia will transfer a luxurious yacht owned by Medvedchuk to Ukraine: what will happen to Putin's godfather's boat

Croatia will hand over to Ukraine the Royal Romance yacht belonging to Viktor Medvedchuk, a former MP and godfather to Russian President Putin, accused of treason, as ruled by a court in Split. After the yacht is appraised, it is planned to be sold. The departure of the impounded vessel from the mooring is not an attempt to hide it to avoid handing it over to Ukraine; on the contrary, the court granted permission for this. The purpose is to check the technical capability, buoyancy, and operation of the engines.

This information was reported by the head of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA), Olena Duma. She noted that to ensure the legality of the technical inspection, the process was monitored by the port captain with the participation of the Croatian police.

"The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia has informed us that the District Court of Split has decided to transfer the Royal Romance yacht to Ukraine based on a request for international legal assistance. Assurances were received that Croatia expects the vessel to be transferred to Ukraine as soon as possible. According to the Croatian side, there are no legal obstacles to the realization of this intention," the statement said.

After receiving the vessel, with an estimated value of 200 million euros, ARMA intends to sell it. If successful, Duma emphasized that the sale "will be the first example of the sale of seized assets located abroad."

What is known about the yacht

The luxurious 5-deck yacht Royal Romance with a length of 92.5 meters was built by the famous Dutch shipbuilder Feadship. It is equipped with:

• 4 x 12-meter swimming pool.
• An elevator.

The yacht can accommodate 14 guests and 22 crew members at a time.

Medvedchuk has a new yacht

Medvedchuk, accused of treason, purchased a new high-speed yacht after being taken to Russia (as part of an exchange for captured Mariupol defenders). The cost of the vessel is estimated at almost $9.6 million.

It is 28 meters long, with four cabins and eight beds on board, capable of accommodating up to 20 guests in total. According to journalists, Medvedchuk's new yacht was launched in 2023, making it a brand new vessel.

Meanwhile, a branch of the Russian public organization "Other Ukraine" was established in Serbia. This structure was created in Russia by Medvedchuk, as reported by OBOZ.UA.
