Crashed during an attack on Ukraine: video of Russian Shahed explosion in Belarus appears
A video showing the explosion of a Russian Shahed in Belarus has been posted online. The kamikaze drone flew into the "allied state" during Russia's night attack on Ukraine on October 3.
The video of the explosion was published by Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council. Belarusian security forces and authorities have been silent about the incident for two days in a row.
As reported the day before by the monitoring community "Belarusian Hajun," a Russian kamikaze drone exploded around 04.55 am on October 3 near the village of Kalinkovichi. Initially, the explosion was reported by local residents, and later the channel received confirmation from several other sources. "Belarusian Hajun" had no information about the victims.
Twelve minutes before the explosion, Ukrainian monitoring channels reported that a Russian Shahed flew into the airspace of Belarus. It crossed the Ukrainian-Belarusian border around 04:40 in the Kyiv region. The drone was headed for Mozyr, passing east of Narovlya.
"The distance from Narowlya to Kalinkavichy is 40 km, which Shahed can cover in just 11 minutes (average speed – 200 km/h). The trajectory and speed of the Shahed indicate that the drone was already above the town at the time of the explosion. At the same time, according to our data, the Belarusian Air Force was not recorded flying over the Gomel region during the described time. It is unknown whether the drone detonated on its own or was shot down by air defense forces," the community noted.
12 hours after the explosion, as of 5:30 p.m. on October 3, the Belarusian authorities remained silent about what happened.
By the way, Russian Shahed flew into Belarus even after the explosion. For example, at least three kamikaze drones crossed the border with Chernihiv region in broad daylight, around 12:55 p.m. on October 3.
"It is known that two of them flew over in the area of Nova Huta and are heading to Gomel, another one entered the area of Loiev and is heading towards Khoiniki," "Belarusian Hajun" noted at the time.
Interestingly, at that time, a helicopter with dictator Alexander Lukashenko on board was also in the Belarusian sky: it was probably flying from the Ozerny residence to the south of the country, to Mikashevichy.
