Completely different design and more power: photos of the new Renault Clio have been leaked online
The Renault Clio compact hatchback is always popular. And soon the French automaker will give it a new impetus, as the next generation of the model will switch to hybrid engines.
In addition, the design of the car will undergo significant changes. New photos of the Clio, which is due to be released in the second half of 2025, were published by Autocar. The car was spotted on public roads during testing.
Despite the camouflage, it is certain that the Renault Clio will have a more prominent nose, with a diamond-shaped grille pattern. It will also be equipped with two-tiered spoilers at the rear, which hints at the importance of aerodynamic performance.
Inside, the Clio 2025 will be a completely new car, not a development of the current model introduced in 2019. However, it will most likely use the same CMF-B platform, borrowing developments from the Ampr Small architecture used for the Renault 5.
Under the hood, you will find an advanced E-Tech hybrid powertrain with an atmospheric four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, producing a total of 143 hp and 204 N-m.
This is set to become the only powertrain option, partly due to strict emission targets for fleets being implemented across the European Union. Starting next year, automakers in the EU will be required to achieve an average of 93.6 g/km of CO2, which is lower than the 95 g/km that currently applies. This is what encourages manufacturers to abandon powertrains that are not equipped with electric support, such as the turbocharged three-cylinder engine of the Clio TCe 90, due to their high carbon emissions. By the way, by 2030, emissions should be reduced even more – to 49.5 g/km.
