There is no better way to feel the Christmas spirit than to visit a Christmas fair. People are happy to share the festive mood, the smell of mulled wine is all around, and wonderful gifts are for sale at every turn.

Perhaps the only significant drawback of such entertainment is the risk of spending too much money. That's why Express has published a rating of the cheapest Christmas markets in Europe, compiled by an investment platform. It took into account the cost of flights, the price of beer, a bottle of wine, dinner for two, and hotels for one night.

The list is headed by the Polish city of Poznań, where an annual fair is held on the Old Market Square. This venue boasts cheap and tasty beer and a large selection of inexpensive wine.

In Poznań, you can visit more than just the Christmas market; other attractions include the Croissant Museum, HistoryLand (a museum detailing the country's history using LEGO models), and the stunning Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul.

The city's Christmas market opens on the Old Market Square on November 19. It consists of about 70 stalls selling everything from local souvenirs to traditional holiday food and Christmas decorations.

In general, the list of the cheapest Christmas markets in Europe is as follows:

  1. Poznań, Poland
  2. Saranda, Albania
  3. Craiova, Romania
  4. Budapest, Hungary
  5. Montbéliard, France
  6. Riga, Latvia
  7. Trier, Germany
  8. Prague, Czech Republic
  9. Madeira, Portugal
  10. Govone and Asti, Italy
