Chery's novelty unexpectedly became a Land Rover clone: car photos
Chinese car manufacturers are known for copying European and American products. Therefore, it is hardly a shock to say that the updated Chery Tiggo 7 Sport, which turned out to be a literal clone of the Land Rover, came as a shock.
According to Car News China, the model will go on sale in September and it has already appeared at dealers. Those who have already seen it unanimously compare the Tiggo 7 Sport to a British luxury SUV.
The similarities between the cars are especially noticeable from the front.

This similarity is especially noticeable in the front. The mesh grille looks almost like a Land Rover. This is due to the design of the air intake, the narrow bumper and the protective plate. The daytime running lights also look like those of the Range Rover Evoque.
Another feature is that although the model is called Chery Tiggo 7, the Sport version is not very related to other cars with the Tiggo 7 name. The car is much closer to the Chery Tansuo 06, which is known abroad as the Jaecoo J7.
The new sport version of the Tiggo has little to do with other cars in the same lineup.

Inside, both cars are almost identical. Chery Tiggo 7 Sport has a floating dashboard and a large screen infotainment system. In addition, it is equipped with a massive drive selector and pass-through air conditioning.

Details about the powertrain of the Chery Tiggo 7 Sport have not yet been disclosed, but it is expected that the car will be equipped in the same way as the Tansuo 06. This means that it will have a turbocharged 1.6 T engine with a maximum power of 145 kW and torque of up to 290 Nm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Prices for the new model are expected to be around 100,000 yuan (US$14,000).
It should be noted that Chery is a joint venture partner of Jaguar Land Rover in China. This may be the reason for such a striking resemblance.
