Cheap Nissan models have caused a stir in the market, but it's not that simple

Cheap Nissan Versa and Sentra models proved to be in great demand in 2024 and caused a real stir in the market. The cars have shown excellent sales figures, although the fate of these models is not so simple.

Carscoops has learned the details. In the key US market, the Nissan Sentra has shown a 55% increase in sales since the beginning of the year compared to the first half of 2023. And the Versa result is even more convincing.

The Versa model was almost 62% more successful on the market than last year. Such outstanding performance is attributed to the weakening demand for electric vehicles and the Japanese company's attractive prices. What does the future hold for these models?

The fact is that Nissan intends to abandon its sedans. At least after 2025, a successor to the Nissan Versa is not planned. The same goes for another model, the Altima. Perhaps such a decision will eventually be made regarding the Sentra.

The electric fashion and high demand for crossovers and SUVs is the right time to abandon sedans. Manufacturers are trying to adapt to the new market conditions at an accelerated pace, so classic four-door models are victims of this optimization.

Nevertheless, the electric segment has cooled off a lot lately. Currently, EVs do not seem to be a dangerous competitor in the market. This means that sedans, for which there is a growing demand, may remain on sale.
