ChatGPT creator predicts the emergence of artificial superintelligence in 2025
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, an artificial intelligence (AI) research laboratory and creator of the revolutionary ChatGPT, predicted the emergence of AGI, also known as superintelligence. The scientist said that he believes this breakthrough will happen in 2025.
Altman is convinced that we will achieve AGI "as we traditionally understand it" with the release of the first AI agents. After all, these smart robots are already beginning to show their abilities, Techradar writes.
"We are now confident that we know how to create AGI as we traditionally understand it. We believe that in 2025, we will be able to see the first AI agents 'join the workforce' and significantly change the performance of companies," said Sam Altman.
The scientist also added that while this may seem like bad news for people whose jobs are being replaced by robots, it will be a big step forward for the AGI timeline.
Artificial intelligence expert and former chairman of Mensa International Alan Thompson, following Altman's latest comments, also believes in the 88% achievement of superintelligence in 2025.
Speaking specifically about AGI, Altman continues that OpenAI's focus will shift beyond ChatGPT to AGI.
"We are starting to turn our goal beyond, to superintelligence in the true sense of the word. We love our current products, but we are here for a glorious future. With superintelligence, we will be able to do anything," the ChatGPT creator emphasized.
According to Sam Altman, superintelligent tools can significantly accelerate scientific discoveries and innovations much more than we can do on our own and, in turn, "greatly increase wealth and prosperity."
