Car and Driver experts have compiled a rating of the cars with the best gas mileage based on official fuel efficiency data and EPA ratings. These cars have the best performance and will satisfy the most demanding customers.

Toyota Prius

Most Crown models are equipped with a 236 hp hybrid powertrain, but to unlock the Crown's maximum performance, try the Platinum level, which comes with a 340 hp turbocharged hybrid powertrain.

Mitsubishi Mirage

The Mirage is also one of the cheapest new cars to buy. Even in its base form, Mitsubishi's budget hatchback includes a long list of standard technology and convenience features, including automatic climate control, an advanced collision warning system with automatic braking, and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. There are also disadvantages: The Mirage is slow, not very comfortable, and its interior looks rather plain.

Mitsubishi Mirage G4
