Called for turning Sumy region into a "dead zone": Russian propagandist sentenced to 8 years in prison. Photo
Russian propagandist Sergei Mikheev, who claims that the territory of Ukraine belongs to the Russian Federation and called for the destruction of the Sumy region, received a sentence in absentia. The Putinist was sentenced to 8 years in prison.
This was reported by the press services of the SSU and the PGO. It is noted that a well-known Russian politician-propagandist was found guilty of encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine (Part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code).
According to the investigation, in June 2023, propagandist Sergei Mikheev called on the command of the Russian occupation groups to carry out a series of massive rocket, bomb, and artillery strikes on Sumy.
In this way, the attacker proposed to turn a frontline Ukrainian city into a "dead zone" in which, according to him, "there should be no living people left."
Mikheev, who positions himself as a "political scientist," made this thesis public during one of his broadcasts on the Kremlin's mouthpiece, "Vesti FM" radio station.
In addition, he regularly appears on Solovyov's propaganda talk shows, where he calls for the continuation of air strikes and shelling of civilian infrastructure in the border areas of Ukraine.
Prosecutors proved in court that since the beginning of the full-scale war, Mikheev had been systematically convincing viewers on federal channels that the actions of the Russian leadership were legitimate and calling for changes in the borders of Ukraine. He claimed that the territory of our country historically belonged to the Russian Federation.
"The linguistic and linguistic examination confirmed that the convict's statements contained calls to change the boundaries of the territory and state border of Ukraine," the Prosecutor General's Office said.
Based on the evidence collected, the court found Mikheev guilty of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) and sentenced him to 8 years in prison.
"Since he is hiding from justice in Moscow, the case was considered in a special court proceeding in absentia (in the absence of the accused)," the SSU said.
Currently, comprehensive measures are being taken to bring him to justice for crimes against our country.
