Apple is preparing a significant update for its budget iPhone SE smartphone, which may become one of the company's most anticipated models. According to the latest data, the gadget will be presented in early 2025, and its cost will be about $429.
The updated iPhone SE 4 may inherit the design of the popular iPhone 14. This means that the new product will have a more modern look without a home button and a much larger 6.1-inch screen with thin bezels. Thus, Apple is gradually moving away from outdated form factors, cnet.com notes.
The smartphone is expected to support Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence technologies. These features, in particular, will help to rewrite text, edit photos, create new emoticons, and interact more effectively with Siri. Such features will be realized thanks to a modern chip, presumably similar to the models of Apple's flagships.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the official presentation of the iPhone SE 4 will take place in the first quarter of 2025. This coincides with the previous release dates of SE models, in particular, in March.
In addition to the updated design, the new product may receive an OLED display that will provide better image quality compared to LCD screens of previous generations. The camera will also undergo changes: the smartphone will be equipped with a 48-megapixel sensor, which will allow taking better photos even in difficult lighting conditions.
Another feature will be the transition to USB-C, which has already been introduced in the iPhone 15 line. This means that Apple is seeking to unify connectors in accordance with modern standards. Also, the new product may get an "action button" that will allow setting up quick access to certain smartphone functions.
Interestingly, the iPhone SE 4 will be the first budget smartphone to feature Apple's Face ID technology. This once again emphasizes the company's intention to move to more modern solutions and abandon Touch ID.
Apple faces competition in the low-cost smartphone market from Samsung and Google, which offer their models with advanced features at a similar price. However, the iPhone SE 4 can be successful thanks to the perfect balance between price, quality, and new technologies.
