Between the Black and Caspian Seas: a trip to the sights of Georgia and Azerbaijan
These two colorful countries attract tourists from all over Europe. They come here to immerse themselves in an unusual culture and feel the fierce temperament of two different peoples. And also to plunge into the atmosphere of fun, unrestrained dancing and gastronomic delights. And what's great is that guests are always welcome here.
That's why travelers are constantly coming here. Traditionally, we share the best locations with you.
Georgia
Batumi is where all guests of the country go first. It is not just a city, but the heart of the Adjara region. So you can safely go here even in winter. You won't be able to splash around in the water and sunbathe in winter, but you will be able to enjoy other attractions of the city.
The first thing you need to do is buy a ticket and take a ride on the funicular. It takes only 10 minutes, and you are at the top of Mount Anuria at an altitude of 2,586 meters. Travelers are so impressed by the local scenery that even in winter they stay here for at least a few hours. Neither the cold nor the wind scares them.
After such a mini-trip, you need a tasty and nutritious meal. And fortunately, Batumi is famous for its specialties, which are worth trying. Go to any restaurant and order Ajarian khachapuri, khinkali, or a specialty kebab.
When you have enjoyed this region enough, head to the capital. It is a must-see. Find at least a day to take a quick run around the sights of Tbilisi. If time is short, go straight to the ancient Narikala fortress. It is located in the very center - on the sacred Mount Mtatsminda.
Among the modern sights, it is worth visiting the Peace Bridge, which symbolizes understanding between all people on Earth. Despite the differences in cultures, religions and traditions, we all have a lot in common. And we should not forget about it.
Azerbaijan
Imagine the architecture of Paris, Vienna, and Barcelona combined with an oriental flavor. Such landscapes can be found at every turn in the capital of Azerbaijan. Yes, Baku is a very specific city. But in a good sense of the word.
You won't need a map or a navigator here. And why would you need them when every building is like a carpet: with its patterns, ornaments, and elements that you want to look at without taking your eyes off. Let alone mosques, minarets, antique shops, or teahouses.
When you arrive in Baku, we advise you not to focus on ancient or modern sights, but to get the most out of your trip. That is, visit all possible historical attractions and new buildings. Moreover, they are located in the neighborhood.
The Maiden Tower is the oldest building in the city that has been perfectly preserved to this day. It has been standing here for more than ten centuries, and it seems that it will last as long. By the way, it is still not known for certain how it was used. There is a legend that once a ruler wanted to marry his own daughter. But she could not bear such a sad fate and threw herself from the highest floor. But this is just a legend. Most historians do not believe in such folk tales. They assume that the building was used as an observatory, lighthouse, or temple.
Don't forget to walk along Primorsky Boulevard. There are fountains, attractions, a parachute tower, and a shopping center. The architect of the famous Sydney Opera House was inspired by it.
But Azerbaijan is not only famous for its capital. Other regions are worth visiting if you have a chance. For example, Ganja. Travelers come here to find inner Zen and harmony. They go to Lankaran to improve their health in the country's best thermal springs. People visit Sheka to explore historical relics and eat plenty of real halva.
We could talk about these countries for a long time. But you know that it is better to see once than to read a hundred times.
