Best TV shows of February: what new releases are worth watching

February promises to be full of series premieres worth watching. Among them are the third season of the popular "The White Lotus" series, the eerie Netflix thriller "Cassandra" about a smart housekeeper, and the epic blockbuster "House of David," which will immerse us in the biblical story of King David.

In addition, viewers will be able to enjoy new episodes of "Force Majeure" and the drama "Toxic Town," which tells about a terrible environmental scandal. February will bring a lot of interesting new releases that should not be missed.

"TOXIC TOWN"

The British series will be released on Netflix on February 27, 2025. The plot of the series focuses on the 2009 scandal around the Corby steel plant, where toxic waste led to malformations in newborns.

Corby is a town in Northamptonshire where there was once a steel plant that closed in 1981, but not before huge amounts of toxic waste were dumped there. Efforts to remove the waste resulted in the contamination of settlements and communities, affecting local residents and their health. The environmental damage has led to birth defects, with the number of people in Corby born with limb defects well above average.

This is a story about a community centered on three mothers who join the fight for justice.

"The White Lotus" (third season)

The third season of "The White Lotus" returns on February 16, 2025, and this time the series will be set in Thailand. Like the previous seasons, the new installment will once again feature a group of guests and staff, including Natasha Rothwell as Belinda Lindsay, as well as new faces including Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, and Parker Posey.

The events will take place in the luxurious Four Seasons Koh Samui hotel on the island of Koh Samui, where scenes are filmed against the backdrop of exotic landscapes and rich Thai culture. The series promises to continue the tradition of intriguing storylines and sophisticated visual style that has already become a trademark of the franchise.

"Suits LA"

This is a spin-off of the popular legal series that takes viewers to the West Coast of the United States. In the new show, the main character, former New York federal prosecutor Ted Black, moves to Los Angeles to start his own law firm. His clients are wealthy and influential people, and from the very beginning, Ted faces financial difficulties and moral dilemmas.

The series retains the style of the original Force Majeure, combining elements of an expensive lifestyle, luxury cars, and elite judicial investigations. The plot focuses not only on legal battles but also on personal conflicts that appear on Ted's path. Los Angeles, with its glamor and tense relationships, is the perfect backdrop for the unfolding of complex storylines. The series will premiere on February 23 on NBC.

"Day Zero"

This new series will be released on Netflix on February 20 and tells the story of former US President George Mullen, played by Robert De Niro. After a powerful cyberattack that destroyed the country's infrastructure and led to numerous casualties, Mullen heads a special commission to investigate the disaster. In the course of the investigation, he encounters numerous conspiracy theories, among which may be the truth about who was behind the attack.

Renowned director Eric Newman, the creator of Narcos, brings this fascinating story to life by combining elements of political thriller and technological apocalypse. The series promises to impress fans of conspiracy theories, as well as give Robert De Niro one of his first leading roles in a series.

"A Thousand Blows"

Starts on February 21. This is a British historical drama series created by Stephen Knight that tells the story of the "Forty Elephants" crime syndicate in London, which consisted exclusively of women and specialized in shoplifting at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The plot centers on two friends, Hezekiah and Alec, who came from Jamaica and found themselves in the difficult conditions of the East End of Victorian London. They come into conflict with Sugar Goodson, a dangerous veteran boxer.

The main roles are played by Malachi Kirby, Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty, Frances Lovehall, and others.

"Cassandra"

The German psychological thriller will be released on Netflix on February 6. It tells the story of a family that moves into a vintage smart home controlled by a virtual assistant who is willing to do anything to keep the residents.

Technological progress and elements of cybernetics merge into a tense atmosphere where the line between reality and artificial intelligence is blurred with every step.

The main roles are played by Lavinia Wilson, Mina Thunder, and Michael Klummer. The series has elements of thriller and psychological drama, bringing the viewer to the edge of difficult moral choices and tense situations. It also addresses the issues of technology control and the impact of artificial intelligence on people's lives.

"House of David"

An American historical drama series created by John Ervin for Amazon Prime Video. The series tells the story of the life of David, the king of ancient Israel and Judah, and his reign as the third king of the United Monarchy. The series stars Michael Iskander as David, and Ali Suliman, Ayelet Zurer, and Stephen Lang as King Saul, Queen Ahinoam, and Samuel, respectively.

The series began filming in 2024 in Greece and Calgary and is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on February 27, 2025. The Wonder Project is producing the series in cooperation with Amazon MGM Studios.
