Beautiful bay with pink sand: where is the best beach in the world

According to the Express, Tripadvisor experts have chosen a beautiful bay on the Greek island of Crete as an ideal destination. The Elafonissi beach located here is famous for its crystal clear water and kilometers of pink sand.

For the first time in four years, the Greek beach has re-entered the list, rising by a staggering 23 positions and securing the first place. Located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, in addition to incredible seascapes, Elafonissi can offer incredible walks among the cedars, as there is a whole cedar forest nearby.

The unusual pink hue of the sand at Elafonissi is caused by the presence of numerous tiny fragments of bright red shells from microscopic marine organisms living in the local waters, mixed in with the white sand grains. The color intensity varies and depends on factors such as weather and tide.

If you want to visit this world-famous beach, but don't want to fight for a place by the water with other tourists, it's best to come to Crete in the off-season. In May and September, the weather is warm and sunny, but there are fewer people compared to the peak summer months.

You can rent sun loungers and umbrellas on the beach. However, keep in mind that you won't be able to find natural shade here, so bring a hat or your own umbrella in case they are all taken

If you want to visit this fabulous beach, the easiest way to do it is to fly to Heraklion and then rent a car and drive to the town of Chania on the northwest coast of the island. It is about an hour and a half drive from Chania to Elafonissi.

In second place among the most beautiful beaches in the world is Banana Beach on the island of Phuket, Thailand. This incredible beach is famous not only for its stunning beauty but also for its crystal clear water and calm atmosphere. It offers incredible opportunities for snorkeling in coral reefs and boating. The ideal time to visit this piece of paradise is from November to March when Phuket has clear skies, dry weather, and calm seas.
