Auchan Ukraine, whose parent company is an international war sponsor, is closing hypermarkets in Zaporizhzhia and Kryvyi Rih. The stores will stop operating on March 3. At the same time, the company will continue to operate in these cities in an online format.

This is stated in a statement on the company's website. Auchan Ukraine is moving to an online format in the cities of Zaporizhzhia and Kryvyi Rih, and on March 3 will close stores in these cities due to the expiration of the lease agreement," the company said.

They reminded that these stores in Zaporizhzhia and Kryvyi Rih were supposed to close in early 2022. However, after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the lease agreements were extended so that the hypermarkets could continue to operate.

Now, the company assures that customers in these cities have started to prefer online orders. "E-commerce allows you to make purchases from a safe place, and the safety of employees and customers is a top priority for Auchan Ukraine," the company said.

At the same time, Auchan promises to provide employees with jobs in other cities of Ukraine. In addition, the chain will continue to cooperate with B2B partners in Zaporizhzhia and Kryvyi Rih and support its social and charitable initiatives in these cities.

As a reminder, the parent company of the Ukrainian Auchan, French Auchan Retail, was declared an international sponsor of the war in February 2023. The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) stated that during the full-scale invasion in 2022, the company refused to stop working in the Russian market and join the boycott of Russia.

"Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Russian subsidiary of the French Auchan has been paying taxes to the budget of the terrorist country, supplying goods to the Russian military in the occupied Ukrainian territories under the guise of humanitarian aid to civilians, and helping military enlistment offices recruit mobilized people," the NACP stated.

The Ukrainian Auchan has repeatedly stated that it is not affiliated with the aggressor country. They emphasize that since the full-scale mobilization, they have provided humanitarian aid to Ukrainians worth more than UAH 60 million.
