In the center of New York, Ukrainians were congratulated on the Day of Unity of Ukraine. A magnificent installation with 333 sunflowers has appeared near Flatiron Plaza between Fifth Avenue and Broadway, right across from Madison Square Park.
It was installed on Sunday 2023, January 22, so citizens and tourists will be able to enjoy the original flowerbed while walking. OBOZREVATEL decided to show what the sunflower mini-field looks like in the middle of the stone jungle (scroll to the bottom of the page to see the photo).
"The power of unity. Today we celebrate the Day of Unity, the birthday of modern Ukraine. This year, let's make it a day of reflection, resistance, and hope for a free tomorrow," reads the sign at the installation.
New Yorkers and visitors were encouraged to take pictures with sunflowers and talk about Ukraine on their social media.
The installation consists of 333 fresh flowers and artificial stones, from which sunflowers seem to grow. The photos show how unusual the garden looks against the backdrop of skyscrapers.
Judging by the photos, people are actively approaching the installation and taking pictures with the flowers.
Those who cannot take their own photo can join the initiative by posting any photo of a sunflower and using the hashtag #UnifyUkraine.
Earlier, OBOZREVATEL wrote that President Volodymyr Zelenskyi congratulated citizens on the Day of Unity of Ukraine on January 22 2023. He noted that this historic event passed on two wisdoms to the next generations of Ukrainians.
