Italian cars are associated with luxury, style, and sophistication, but not all models live up to these expectations. Experts note that some cars can be disappointing due to problems with reliability, functionality, or build quality.

Despite the attractive design, some Italian cars are inferior to their competitors in many key aspects. GOBankingRates presented four models that, according to experts, are not worth buying.

Fiat 500L: problems with reliability and safety

The Fiat 500L is known for its unique design and spacious interior, but its serious drawbacks outweigh its advantages. The lack of modern safety and driver assistance systems makes this model less attractive than its competitors. In addition, owners often complain about a jerky ride, sensitive brakes, and problematic suspension. Production of the model was discontinued in 2019, which makes it difficult to find spare parts and reduces its resale value.

Maserati Ghibli: luxury only in appearance

The Maserati Ghibli, although it belongs to the premium segment, has numerous drawbacks. The interior of the car lacks a sense of luxury, as some elements are borrowed from the Jeep Cherokee, which reduces the prestige of the model. Expert Sean Miller emphasizes reliability issues, including electronics and suspension, as well as poor fuel economy. This model is inferior to its competitors, such as the BMW 5 Series or Audi A6, which offer better quality and durability.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio: stylish but unreliable

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is famous for its elegant design and sporty handling, but it has significant reliability issues. Frequent complaints about engine failures, rough shifting, and electronic malfunctions do not add to the model's appeal. The infotainment system in the Giulia Quadrifoglio also lags behind modern standards, and the cramped trunk and rear seats make it impractical for long trips.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio: limited space and technology

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV looks stylish and offers a sporty driving experience, but suffers from the same problems as the Giulia. Cargo space and rear seat space leave much to be desired, and the small-screen infotainment system with basic functions lags behind the competition. Experts also note frequent malfunctions of the brake system and engine.

Problems with reliability and build quality

All four models have a common problem: low reliability. Owners often report problems with the electronics, suspension, and other key systems of the car. This creates additional maintenance and repair costs, which reduces the overall value of owning such cars.
