Almost every woman does it: 8 mistakes when applying foundation
Foundation is the main thing in makeup because it serves as a canvas for other cosmetics. However, many women make mistakes that can ruin the most luxurious look.
Incorrect application of foundation can emphasize redness, dryness, and skin imperfections. Blogger and makeup artist Maria Hrabina explains how to avoid this on her YouTube channel.
Wrong tools
Many people think that foundation doesn't suit them, but it may be the tools you use when applying it. "It's all about the viscosity of the products: whether the texture is dense or liquid," the blogger says. With dense textures, it is better to use a sponge, and if its liquid textures, use brushes.
Improperly prepared skin
If you don't prepare your skin, the foundation can simply "roll off" after half an hour or emphasize all the imperfections of the face. "You need to pay attention to exfoliation," the expert explained, "These are peels and acids. So, if there are dead particles on the skin, the foundation will emphasize them."
"Or vice versa, when you apply an oily cream to areas that are very oily, it makes sense that they will become even more oily," she added. You should pay attention to your individual skin areas and take care of them with these features in mind. You can also use mattifying primers.
Foundation is not suitable for other products
"Each product says whether it is an oil, silicone, or water-based product. Most foundations are made of silicones," the makeup artist assured. According to her, silicones go well with silicones. If, for example, the foundation is oil-based and the primer is silicone, the makeup will roll off.
Wrong color
"Usually we choose darker foundations because how can you tell from the bottle whether it's dark or light?" the blogger explained. "To solve this problem, there is a product called an adjuster. They come in different colors, so they can be added to the foundation to achieve the desired shade."
Wrong undertone
One way to determine your undertone is to look at the veins on your arm. If they are blue or blue, it indicates a cold undertone. If they are green, then your undertone is warm. Turquoise color means a neutral undertone.
Wrong finish
For dry skin, it's better to choose a foundation with a moisturizing and shiny finish, and for oily skin, a matte or satin finish.
Too much product
"Try to use only one pump," the author of the video said. If you don't have enough product, it's better to cover the necessary areas with concealer rather than foundation.
Improper shading
"If you use a brush, I advise you to make circular movements," the makeup artist explained. If your tool is a sponge, then try patting movements.
