Worst Director winner Francis Ford Coppola got in touch on his Instagram after receiving the Golden Raspberry award. The 85-year-old screenwriter frankly noted that he was not at all disappointed to win the "anti-Oscar" award, and moreover, he considers his victory a special honor.
"I am very pleased to accept the Golden Raspberry Award in multiple categories for Metropolis. It's a special honor to be among the nominees for Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Film at a time when so few have the courage to go against the prevailing trends in contemporary filmmaking! In this world, where art is judged as if it were a professional wrestling match, I decided not to follow the ridiculous rules set by an industry that is so afraid of risk that, despite a huge pool of young talent, it may not be able to create films that will be relevant and alive in 50 years," the director said.
