After meetings in Washington, Usyk made a statement about "giving peace to our people"
WBC, WBO, WBA and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) attended the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC, for the first time, as well as all related events. On his Instagram, the boxer summarized his visit, thanking Peter Schell for the warm welcome.
Usyk admitted that it was an honor to meet with speaker Mike Johnson, Steve Green, Dr. Jim Harlow and all his "brothers and sisters in Christ."
"I was glad to unite in prayer, asking for God's blessing for the whole world and our home countries. As the Scriptures teach us, we should speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. We should learn to do what is right, seek justice and defend the oppressed. I believe that the Lord will grant peace to our nation. Faith and truth will take root like a flowering plant, and justice will pour down from heaven. This is my prayer - today and always," said Oleksandr.
As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, Ukrainian MP Yulia Yatsyk, who left the Servant of the People faction in July 2024, posted a joint photo with Usyk, provoking a stir on social media.
It should be noted that last August Usyk avoided answering the question of whether he had left the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. The boxer is outraged that he is being asked about this by people who have never attended morning services in their lives.
