Affordable Subaru and Kia lose to Ford SUV in tough conditions
The popular affordable crossovers Subaru Forester and Kia Telluride were compared off-road to the Ford Bronco. It turned out that both lost to the Ford SUV in a number of tough tests.
The unusual test was conducted by the authors of the Edmunds Cars YouTube channel. The average price of the cars in the test is about $35,000 for the base variants. That is, the models are quite affordable, especially considering their dimensions. However, it's not the price that matters off-road.
Pitted against the Bronco were the Forester Wilderness and the Telluride X-Pro. The crossovers received new off-road equipment packages. However, the Ford still did the best when climbing steps, several uphill runs, and fast off-road driving.
However, the results can't be called surprising. Ford Bronco is a frame SUV of a classic format, which is built on the basis of the Ranger pickup truck. Off-roading is the main conditions for which this model was developed.
In turn, Subaru Forester and Kia Telluride are mostly family crossovers, which should provide practical everyday use and comfortable driving on asphalt.
The new equipment packages for these vehicles are rather customized for less than ideal weather conditions and infrequent trips in the countryside. However, they have not turned into true off-roaders. Be that as it may, the comparison turned out to be interesting.
