Rhodes Island

Greece is an ideal country for lovers of sun, beaches, history and architecture. This country combines rich history, picturesque nature, delicious cuisine and warm sea. Greece has thousands of islands, each with its own unique charm.

The Acropolis in Athens, Delphi, and Olympia are just a few of the many archaeological sites that will allow you to travel back to the times of the ancient Greeks. And for those who like outdoor activities, Greece offers excellent opportunities for trekking and mountaineering. The Express shared why you should visit Greece.

Athens

The Greek capital is a popular destination for tourists who love to immerse themselves in cultural experiences and breathtaking scenery. In fact, there are not many cities in Europe that have such a rich historical heritage as Athens

"When it comes to visiting Greece, there are many spectacular places to add to your bucket list, but as a travel expert of many years I always recommend Athens and Rhodes as my top two favourite Greek destinations for every taste and budget," said Alonso Marly, travel agent at Skylux Travel.

The Acropolis is perhaps the most famous symbol of Athens and Greece in general. The Parthenon temple, the Erechtheion and other buildings on the Acropolis impress with their grandeur and beauty.

The National Archaeological Museum is one of the richest archaeological museums in the world. It contains unique exhibits that tell the story of Greece from prehistoric times to the Roman period.

The Greek capital is also famous for its squares, such as Monastiráki Square, where you will find a large shopping street. You can go on a real quest looking for hidden treasures in antique flea markets or take a daytime stroll through Anafiotika, a Cycladic village under the Parthenon, to see the legendary Athenian sunset.

Plaka is an ancient neighborhood of Athens with narrow streets, traditional tavernas and souvenir shops, and Syntagma is the central square of Athens, surrounded by government buildings and elegant cafes.

Rhodes

Rhodes is one of the most famous and cheapest Greek islands. Located off the coast of Turkey, it boasts a rich history, impressive medieval architecture, picturesque villages, and a vibrant local culture.

The old town of Rhodes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will take you back to the Middle Ages. Narrow streets, ancient buildings, and the Palace of the Grand Master perfectly reflect the atmosphere of knightly times. The Old Town is the most prominent attraction in the region and one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe.

The Acropolis of Lindos, an ancient hilltop fortress, is a great place to enjoy panoramic views of the Aegean Sea.

In addition, Rhodes is famous for its white sand beaches and crystal clear water. The most popular of them are Faliraki, Tsambika, and Agathi.

The island is small, so you can easily reach any point of it. Rhodes is suitable for both beach lovers and those interested in history and culture.

The island of Rhodes has a large number of all-inclusive resorts and hotels, which are relatively cheap due to high competition.
