In 1870, the Central Railway Station was opened in Kyiv. Its first building was constructed of yellow brick in the Old English Gothic style.
The archival photos and history were published on his Telegram channel by Kyrylo Stepanets, a Kyiv guide. Today, this building looks completely different.
"In 1870, the Central Railway Station in Kyiv was opened. The first building of the railway station was a two-story yellow brick building in the Old English Gothic style," Stepanets said.

According to the guide, the station was 133 meters long, slightly less than the size of the passenger platform, which stretched for 144 meters.

The modern building was designed by Oleksandr Verbytsky and architect Pavlo Alyoshin. The Ukrainian Soviet architect and urban planner Iosyp Karakis, who later became famous, worked and studied as a senior technician at the construction site. The station was built between 1927 and 1932.
