A 12-year-old Ukrainian girl, Yana Stepanenko, who has both legs amputated, took part in the Boston Marathon using prosthetic limbs. The girl initially planned to run only 2 kilometers, but eventually managed to cover 5.

Iryna Kyshakevych, a doctor from Ivano-Frankivsk, posted a video with Yana on her Facebook page.

"I don't know yet what to do with my emotions that I experienced today. But I know for sure that this iron girl Yana Stepanenko, who lost both legs in a Russian missile strike and ran the entire 5 km course with a smile and love, is a reflection of our strong Ukraine and our unbreakable nation," Kyshakevych wrote, asking all those who care to support her fundraising for military medics.

The purpose of the race was to raise money for a sports prosthesis for Oleksandr Ryasny, who has been in the Armed Forces since 2011. The Zaporizhzhia native served in the ATO and then in the Joint Forces Operation. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he was fighting in the Zaporizhzhia sector when a shell exploded near him in September last year, causing Oleksandr to lose his right leg.
