The Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed the downing of a Tu-22M3 bomber in the Irkutsk region. Details of the crash are being clarified, but it is known that the crew was ejected.

This is what Russian media reported. Later it became known that one of the bomber pilots died in hospital.

The Russian Defense Ministry also states that the preliminary cause of the accident was a technical malfunction, and the plane itself crashed in a deserted area, with no damage.

"It happened during a scheduled flight, the crew ejected, and there was no damage on the ground. According to preliminary data, the accident was caused by a technical malfunction," the media reported.

According to the Governor of the Irkutsk region Igor Kobzev, all four pilots of the crashed bomber were found alive.

Later, Russian public media reported that one of the pilots of the Tu-22M3 bomber had died in hospital. All other crew members are alive and are being provided with all necessary medical care.

Description

The Tu-22M3 is a carrier of X-22 cruise missiles used by the Russian army to attack Ukrainian cities.

Earlier it was reported that a Russian Ka-52 Alligator helicopter was shot down in the Kursk region of Russia. One Russian pilot was killed and another was injured.

As a reminder, an ambush of the Russian military was probably broken in the Kursk region of Russia. The occupiers' military equipment burned to the ground. Putin's tankers wanted to lie in wait for the enemy but eventually burned in their trap.
