On the evening of May 2, an unusual white flash was seen over the southern and central regions of Ukraine. In a country at war, flashes in the sky are common. However, this phenomenon was somewhat unusual – a white circle appeared and began to move slowly.

Before that, it was also reported that the sky over Ukraine was an unusual red color. It is not known for certain what exactly it was, although experts say that the sky was red because of the so-called aurora – the northern lights. A white flash moving in space turned out to be a trace of a spacecraft.

Aliens have nothing to do with it. The majority of UFO sightings around the world usually turn out not to be encounters with anything extraterrestrial at all, but rather observations of something man-made or a natural phenomenon. Even the Pentagon admits that 650 UFO reports turned out to be pacifiers. 

The flash captured in the photos and video (below) coincides with the separation of the Falcon 9 rocket's stage. The launch of the ship was announced by its owners from SpaceX.

Falcon 9 is carrying 23 more Starlink satellites into orbit. The first stage of the rocket, which is used several times, has successfully landed on the SpaceX platform in the Atlantic Ocean.

Elon Musk's company does not say where and when the second stage of the Falcon was separated. However, experts believe that this is what Ukrainians saw after the northern lights.

If the phenomenon had not been moving in the sky, it would have been mistaken for a halo, an optical illusion of a circle in the atmosphere caused by the refraction and reflection of light in ice crystals. The most common form of halo is a bright circle around the sun or moon. But sometimes it is seen separately from the celestial bodies, and this phenomenon is extremely rare.
