A real treasure: a little-known city in Spain was named ideal for a vacation in the fall
Catalonia is home to one of the most picturesque towns in Spain. Castellfollit de la Roca is built on a basalt cliff that is more than 50 meters high and almost a kilometer long. It was formed by the superposition of two lava flows.
The city is located at the intersection of the Fluvia and Toronell rivers, between which the rock rises. Experts told why Castelfollit de la Roca, where there are almost no tourists, will be an ideal place for an autumn vacation.

Castelfollit de la Roca is part of the natural park of the La Garrocha volcanic zone. The town is famous for its idyllic cobblestone streets, medieval houses and incredible views that visitors can enjoy from the square, right on the edge of the cliff.
The Garrocha Volcanic Zone Nature Reserve is a uniquely protected area where there are never crowds of tourists. On Tripadvisor, the city on a cliff is labeled "a gem off the beaten path".
The amazing city has preserved the spirit of the Middle Ages. You should start your walk at the eastern outskirts of the city - Plaça de Josep Pla - a large observation deck with a magnificent panoramic view of forests, rocks and mountains.

There is an ancient church of San Salvador (Iglesia de Sant Salvador) on the square. Historians say that it was founded at least in the XIII century, which is when the first chronicle mention that has survived to this day appeared. The church is used not only for masses. It also houses a local history museum, an art and photo gallery.

The city has bars and restaurants for a comfortable stay. Can Llorenç is located right on the edge of the cliff. The gastronomic offerings include charcoal-grilled meat, roasted vegetables, or cannelloni. In the quiet and cozy Cal Ganxo, you can enjoy a coffee on a small terrace with perfect mountain views.
