In Romania, a British tourist almost lost her arm because of her love of photographing wild animals, namely a bear. The incident resulted in an injury to the 72-year-old woman.

During her hospitalization, she told reporters that she "just wanted to take a photo" of the wild predator that approached the car. The video with the Scottish woman was posted on YouTube.

On April 22, the potential candidate for the Darwin Awards - a ceremony during which prizes are given to people who have been killed or injured in the most senseless way - was driving along the Transfăgărăşan mountain road in Argeș County. When she noticed two bears, she asked her companion to stop the car.

The fearless woman rolled down the window and stretched out her hand. However, the animals were not friendly, and one of them attacked her.

The driver abruptly moved away, trying to get away from the wild attackers. Then they called rescuers. Police and medics arrived at the scene, drove the predators away and took the woman to the nearest hospital.

She was conscious and spoke English, saying that she had stretched her hand with her phone out of the window when the bear grabbed it with its teeth.

An RO-Alert message was issued to warn the population in the area, urging locals not to contact bears and to call rescuers if the animals approach them.

Tourists were reminded that feeding, approaching, petting, and taking close-up photos of bears living in the wild is dangerous.
