A large-scale accident involving a Warsaw – Odesa bus has occurred in the Lviv region: three people were killed and more than 30 injured. Photos and video
On Friday, October 11, a Warsaw-Odesa international bus, a truck, and two other cars collided on a bypass road near Lviv. Three people died in the accident and 34 were injured, including children.
The accident occurred at about 06:25 near the village of Chyshky on the M-06 Kyiv-Chop highway. This was reported by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyi.
According to him, in addition to the bus, a "Nova Poshta" truck and several cars were damaged in the accident.
"As of 07:00, one person was reported dead and 27 injured," he wrote.
Kozytskyi later added that the death toll had risen to two. As of 08:40, three victims were reported. Another 34 people suffered injuries of varying severity.
"There are six children among the victims. 11 medical teams arrived at the scene of the accident. The victims are being provided with all necessary assistance. Law enforcement officers are investigating the circumstances of the accident," said the head of the RMA.
Traffic on the highway in the area of the accident was completely blocked. The patrol policemen directed the vehicles through Vynnyky and later organized reverse traffic on this section of the road.
According to preliminary data from the Lviv regional police, four vehicles collided: a truck, a Mercedes Sprinter minibus, a Skoda car, and a Plaxton Elite bus.
"There were trapped people in the vehicles who needed help. Using special tools, rescuers unblocked three injured people from the bus – two passengers and the driver, who were hospitalized by doctors," the SES reported.
Rescuers also unblocked the dead: a bus passenger, a driver, and a truck passenger.
Law enforcement officers were working at the scene. Investigators are establishing the circumstances of the accident, the number of victims, and their details.
18 people injured in the accident on the Kyiv – Chop highway have been taken to St. Panteleimon Hospital. Doctors are providing all the necessary assistance to the victims.
As of 10:00 a.m., 32 victims were hospitalized in three hospitals of the First Medical Association of Lviv.
