Former Hyatt and Hilton employee explains what you can be banned from entering hotel chains for

Usually, luxury hotel staff is ready to help with any problems to make the guest feel comfortable, but sometimes unscrupulous customers take advantage of this and leave false complaints, which can later lead to complete exclusion from the loyalty program. Employees of many hotels have access to the guest's complaint history that they check before booking, which can suddenly disrupt a stay at a particular establishment.

A hotel loyalty program offers late check-out, free celebratory champagne, or a free room upgrade. However, some customers take advantage of these benefits by inventing non-existent reasons. On TikTok, former Hilton and Hyatt staff member with the nickname KT noted that employees have the opportunity to learn more about a person before they check in through comments about a particular person in a special complaint database.

"In their system, it's called the 'service improvement tab,' and you can find out what people are complaining about, what compensation they received, and then you can read the comments about the person who posted the complaint," she said.

The woman recalled one of the most vivid situations. A regular visitor to the Hyatt was always indignant about the lack of a bottle of free wine in his room in honor of his birthday. As it turned out later, the staff recorded his complaints in the database over and over again, and thus learned that the man was lying about the real date of the holiday and making up a new one to get free alcohol.

"Sometimes some of these people who travel do it in every hotel they stay in. Such people should be banned from the rewards program. And I would really like every hotel chain to do this just to protect yourself from losing money and to know what to expect from people. You may even have to kick them out of the loyalty program," the woman said.

If such violations are severe, hotel managers can even ban you from visiting a particular chain property or from showing up at the doorstep of any of them.

"They will send an email saying that you can no longer stay here. The may add that there are other hotels in the area and you should stay there. That means they have already updated your loyalty program," she explained.
