The former champion had not boxed for a year and a half

Former IBF world heavyweight champion Charles Martin (30-4-1, 27 KOs) made a triumphant return to the ring after a year and a half break. The 38-year-old American dealt with his 43-year-old compatriot Matthew McKinney (17-9-3, 13 KOs) ahead of schedule

The main event on the evening of boxing in Redwood City (California, USA) turned out to be fast-paced. From the very first seconds, Martin seized the initiative, using deuces. One of these series became fatal for his opponent in the first round.

After missing a powerful punch to the head, McKinney fell to the canvas like a man down, almost flying out of the ring.

Charles won the championship in early 2016, defeating the Ukrainian Vyacheslav Glazkov, who was injured that night. In April, in his first defense, Charles lost by knockout in the second round to the British Anthony Joshua.

On March 2, 2022, Martin posted a photo of Oleksandr Usyk on his Instagram with a call to stop the war. "My heart and soul are with the Ukrainian people," the boxer wrote under the photo.
