In the Republic of Karelia (Russia), water washed away the bridge between the 10th and 11th locks of the White Sea-Baltic Canal, which was installed during the reconstruction. The water swept away several houses and people, killing at least one person, injuring nine others, and leaving six others (including two children) missing.
As of 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 29, four of the six have been found – two adults and two minors – and handed over to doctors, according to RosSMI.
The incident occurred in the Segezha District, and a state of emergency was declared there. The head of the republic, Artur Partenchikov, said: "The Baltiysky dacha cooperative is located in the direction of the water discharge, and 11 people are registered at the lock."
Karelia's Emergencies Ministry reported that airborne groups of the Nevsky Rescue Center and the Russian Emergencies Ministry's Main Directorate for the Republic of Karelia, as well as a Mi-8 rescue helicopter, were working at the scene.

Russians on social media called the incident a tragedy. Some ask if there is a "Ukrainian trace" in this.
