A biathlete of the Ukrainian national team was "trampled" during the transfer of the baton at the World Cup

Ukrainian biathlete Artem Pryma failed to pass the baton in the race at the 1st stage of the World Cup. The 36-year-old native of Chernihiv did not have enough space in the special corridor where the participants of the race are changed.

After the 1st stage, during the mixed relay, Prim was clamped by his rivals, which caused him to fall face first into the snow.

It's worth noting that this happened right after Artem sent his partner Anton Dudchenko into battle, so the fall didn't significantly delay the Ukrainian team.

The race was eventually won by France. Norway came in second. Italy took third place. The Ukrainian team finished the mixed relay 8th.

As OBOZ.UA reported, on Saturday, November 25, the 2023/2024 Biathlon World Cup season started with a stage in Estersund, Sweden. The competition was opened by a single mixed relay (supermix).

Ukraine, which was represented in this race by Artem Tyshchenko and Anastasia Merkushina, took 10th place.

Last season was a disaster for the Ukrainian national team. For the first time in 30 years, Ukrainian biathletes failed to win a single medal. In 2021, our team won one bronze medal, and the last time Ukraine won gold was in the 2018/19 season.
