45 roles in one movie: Indian actor set a world record that no one has managed to break so far

Darya SkubNews
Johnson George is a little-known actor who became a record holder.

In 1996, the legendary actor and director Eddie Murphy played seven characters in the movie The Nutty Professor, including the main character Sherman Klump, his alter ego Buddy Love, and Sherman's entire family. Impressive, isn't it? However, he didn't make it into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most roles played by a movie star in one movie.

The world record was set by the Indian actor Johnson George, who skillfully played 45 famous characters from history in the movie Aaranu Njan (2018): Jesus, Leonardo da Vinci, Charlie Chaplin, Che Guevara, Maria Teresa, etc. Who is this extraordinaryman and is there anyone on the horizon to take his place? Find out in the article by OBOZ.UA.

Briefly about the movie

Aaranu Njan is a Malayalam drama film directed by P.R. Unnikrishnan. It was released in March 2018 and has a running time of 1 hour and 47 minutes. The movie stars Jayachandran Thakazhikkaran, Muhammed Nilambur and Johnson George in the lead roles.

What is the movie about? It is mostly about the thoughts, research and observations of the main character named Globe man. He is a world traveler who carries the globe on his shoulder and constantly asks himself who is he.

The plot has many fantastic inclusions. For example, when the protagonist sees a statue of the national hero Mahatma Gandhi, he thinks about him and... becomes him for a moment. In total, Globe man "transformed" into 45 historical figures and showed what their reaction to today's realities would be.

The mysterious record holder

Indian actor Johnson George is a "ghost man". All we know is that he was born on May 24, 1964 in Chengannur, a small town in the Indian state of Kerala. Prior to the release of the record-breaking film, the man had no high-profile premieres, and his filmography on various websites lists only one project. It's worth noting that Johnson George was not only an actor in Aaranu Njan but also responsible for producing it.

Challenge accepted

Let us say one more time. Johnson George, who played 45 historical figures in one movie, entered the Guinness Book of Records in 2018. As of today, no one has managed to break this record. However, we already know the name of the person who will do it in 2024.

It is the actor and director Mart Sander. He played 48 roles in the fantastically autobiographical horror film Dr. Sander's Sleep Cure! The premiere is scheduled for the 25th Nevermore Film Festival in February 2024. The movie shows the protagonist's struggle with insomnia. His search for effective methods often takes a surreal turn...

Mart Sander was surprised to find out that an unknown film was leading the record book in the category he was applying for: "I have serious doubts about this movie (Aaranu Njan - Ed.). I can't find any information about it anywhere. The IMDb entry is empty. The director and the actor of the film, probably under the pseudonym 'Johnson George', are completely unknown." Anyway, the application to the Guinness Book of Records has been submitted. We are waiting for confirmation of registration."
