Remote work is becoming increasingly popular in Ukraine. And there's a reason for that – some employers are willing to pay their employees 40 thousand UAH of salary for working from home.

For example, a furniture studio is ready to pay a designer from 20,000 to 40,000 UAH. Among the requirements:

  • the ability to create projects based on the Pro 100 and 3D max programs;
  • ability to make product calculations.

A software development company is looking for a chat manager for a salary of UAH 15,000 to 40,000. Responsibilities include answering customer questions and providing advice on products and services.

An online English school is looking for a teacher. They are willing to pay from UAH 20,000 to 40,000. The requirements include a high level of English (B2 and above).

Firing is more common than hiring

Soon, the Ukrainian labor market will remain fairly static: neither a sharp increase in vacancies nor a surge in layoffs is expected in the main sectors of the economy. However, there are still companies that intend to change the number of employees. These expectations are negative: they will dismiss employees much more often than they will hire new ones in almost all key areas.

According to the National Bank, the construction sector is the only one where the number of companies planning to lay off employees will not dominate those preparing to expand their staff. At the same time, we should expect an overall increase in the number of employees – 13% of companies are going to hire new employees, while only 4% are going to lay off. Another 83% of companies plan to keep the current number of employees.

In other industries, the number of companies ready to dismiss employees exceeds the number of those intending to hire new employees. For example, among industrial companies:

  • will retain the current number of employees – 78%;
  • Hire new employees – 8%;
  • 14% will be laying off employees, which is almost twice as many as those who are ready to increase staff.

Among service sector enterprises:

  • will keep the current number of employees – 81%;
  • Hire new employees – 4%;
  • 15% will be laying off employees, which is almost four times the number of those who are ready to increase staff.

Among trade enterprises:

  • will keep the current number of employees – 80%;
  • hire new employees –- 4%;
  • 15% will lay off employees, which is almost four times the number of those who are ready to increase staff.
