Will work in 15 minutes: how to clean a clogged sink
Clogged drains are a common problem in the kitchen. Food residue, grease, dirt and hair can create stubborn buildup that obstructs the drainage.
Preventing clogs in the sink is crucial to maintaining its functionality. Experts have shared an effective method that will fix the problem in 15 minutes.
An eco-friendly life hack
Clogs cause many consequences: from deterioration of the sink's functioning to the appearance of an unpleasant odor. In the most severe cases, you will have to call a plumber, but if the blockage is not critical, you can easily handle it yourself. Improvised tools will come in handy.
Experts from Hero Plumbing talked about a practical and inexpensive way to clean the sewer yourself.
Baking soda is an environmentally friendly, safe and very powerful cleaning agent that will quickly get rid of clogs.
Baking soda and vinegar combined cause a chemical reaction that helps break down clogs in clogged drains. The solution can be used to clean a sink, toilet, shower or bathtub. The vinegar is relatively mild so as not to damage the pipes, but at the same time hard enough to dissolve the organic material of the clog.
How to rinse the sink
You will need:
- baking soda
- vinegar
- hot water
First, pour the baking soda into the clogged drain. You will need about one cup or 250 g. The amount of baking soda depends on the size and length of the drain.
Next, pou hot water mixed with vinegar. You will see bubbles appear as soon as the vinegar comes into contact with the baking soda.
Wait at least 15 minutes and then pour the hot water down the drain.
The experts explained, "This will clean the sewer without corroding it. Slowly pour the hot water (you can even use boiling water) down the sink drain and use gloves to avoid burning your skin."
Wait until the sewer has cooled before using the sink, shower, bathtub, or toilet again. It will take about 30 minutes.
This solution is very effective when it comes to small everyday problems with blockages.
