What exotic plants to grow in the apartment: photos
The basic set of plants we grow at home is more or less the same: popular species that do not require complicated care. However, it can be greatly diversified if you choose something from rarer tropical and other species.
OBOZ.UA has compiled a list of such indoor flowers. They impress with their unusual appearance and they require relatively simple care. Even a person with minimal skills can handle it.
Oxalis
This plant belongs to the Oxalidaceae family, and its triangular leaves resemble a swarm of butterflies. There are oxalis with the usual green leaves, and there are dark purple ones. The flower folds its leaves at night. In addition, this beautiful plant blooms regularly at home. Oxalis is grown from tubers and does not require complicated care.
Tillandsia
This plant is amazing because it grows without soil at all. It looks like a bunch of fleshy, spiky leaves. Tillandsia can be grown in compositions with stones, colored sand, some figurines and dead wood, or even turned upside down under the ceiling or on the wall. It is rooted in a small lump of sphagnum, and the plant is watered either by daily spraying or by immersing the roots in water once a week.
Trachyandra
The plant looks like an alien dut to its completely unique shape. Its elongated leaves curl into spiral structures and look like curly hair or are also compared to instant noodles. At the same time, its African origin makes Trachyandra resistant to drought. Thus, it needs to be watered infrequently.
Pseudolithos
If you have sailed in the southern seas and admired corals there, you will definitely like Pseudolithos. It looks exactly like a small coral but it grows in a pot. It needs poor soil and infrequent watering because it is a succulent. It won't take up much space either. Still, it will make an unforgettable impression on your guests.
Sprekelia
This is a species for lovers of flowering plants. Sprekelia is a relative of amaryllis but its flowers have a more complex and exotic shape. During the dormant period, it produces long and flat leaves similar to amaryllis, and when it blooms, it sheds them and turns into a pot with unusually bright red flowers on long stems.
String of Pearls
A young succulent looks rather nondescript and most of all resembles a twig with unripe poplar fluff. It hides in such green pea-shaped boxes. However, if you give it a little love and care, it will turn into an exotic necklace that will hang from the pot with long green threads. By the way, it will need really little care because it is a succulent.
