The domestic cat is one of the smallest members of the feline family. These creatures delight their owners because they look like cubs all their lives: a large head with huge eyes, and a fragile build. However, the most miniature creatures evoke tender feelings with their very appearance because they remain kittens inside and out until old age.
OBOZREVATEL tells you about these mini cats and the peculiarities of their health and character.
Singapura
Singapura cats were specially bred to be the smallest domestic cats. Males of this breed are rarely larger than 3 kg, and females weigh 2 kg. The animals have a light cream color and large round eyes. By nature, Singapura are playful and affectionate creatures devoid of aggression. They become attached to the whole family and get along well with children and other animals.
Munchkin
A distinctive feature of this relatively new breed is its short legs. This feature developed naturally and seemed extremely cute to breeders. Munchkin males weigh about 3-4 kg, and females weigh 2-3 kg. These cats adore people and are happy to keep their owners company everywhere. They also have excellent health and live a long time.
Bambino
The name of this breed means "child" in Italian. It is an experimental cat breed developed from crossbreeding Munchkins with sphynxes. Bambinos do not have hair and boast short legs and large ears. An adult rarely grows larger than 3.5 kg. These cats are so patient that they do not cause their owners any trouble even when moving. At the same time, they are very affectionate. The only inconvenience, and it is quite relative, is the breed's lack of hair. Because of this, you have to take good care of the Bambino's skin and make sure that the cat does not get cold by dressing it and carrying it in your arms.
Kinkalow
Another rare hybrid breed that was developed by crossing the American Curl and Munchkin. The result is short-legged cats with ears curved upward. The average weight of Kinkalows ranges from 1.5-3 kg. They are friendly, playful, and very tame by nature. But they do not run very fast, so it is better to keep them at home and not let them go outside.
Minuet (Napoleon)
Another descendant of the Munchkin, this time in tandem with Persian cats. In addition to their short legs, they have fluffy and soft hair. And the phlegmatic character of the Persians, which turned into absolute defenselessness under the Napoleons. Therefore, this breed is suitable only for love, which it will gladly reciprocate. A male Napoleon cat will grow up to a maximum of 3 kg, and a female cat reach up to 2.5 kg.
Devon Rex
These small cats boast curly hair and giant ears, for which they are called elf cats. Devon Rexes are somewhat larger than other miniature breeds, but still rarely reach a weight of more than 4.5 kg. They are very intelligent creatures that can even be trained. They are very playful, and also quite tame. Due to their very short hair without an undercoat, they are constantly cold.
