The film tells the story of the beginning of a full-scale war - the bombing of residential buildings and a maternity hospital, constant shelling. It also shows how ordinary Mariupol residents reacted to it. Mstyslav Chernov's "20 Days in Mariupol" became the highest-grossing documentary in Ukraine.

As a reminder, in 2019, Ukraine nominated Nariman Aliyev's film "Evge" for an Oscar, in 2020 - "Atlantis" by Valentyn Vasyanovych, in 2021 - "Bad Roads" by Natalia Vorozhbyt, and in 2022 - "Klondike" by Marina Er Gorbach. Since its independence, Ukraine has nominated films for the Oscars more than 10 times, but none of them have been shortlisted.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL wrote about the scandal that erupted around the movie "Yurik" about the blockade of Mariupol.
