The Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) has removed Ukraine from the list of countries where the state of combating corruption is "globally unsatisfactory". They said that Ukraine has achieved certain improvements, implementing 15 out of 31 recommendations at or close to satisfactory level.

This is stated in the published in the relevant report. According to it, of the remaining recommendations:

  • 9 have been partially implemented;
  • 7 not implemented at all.

"War time has led to the need for the introduction of martial law, state of emergency and the adjustment of priorities. Nevertheless, Ukraine continued to work on the implementation of GRECO recommendations. The progress achieved is commendable," the report says.

At the same time, the Group also asked Ukraine to report on measures taken to implement the outstanding recommendations by March 31, 2024. In addition, it concluded that the current level of implementation of the recommendations is no longer "globally unsatisfactory".

At the same time, European Union leaders supported the idea of creating a legal mechanism that would hold the Russian leadership accountable for war crimes against Ukraine. It is a question of creating a tribunal for the aggressor country.

They also endorsed a "peace formula" from Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who spoke online at the next EU summit, which is taking place in Brussels on March 23-24.

Meanwhile, the majority of Europeans - 65% - support Ukraine's accession to the European Union in the next few years. Sociologists believe that the majority of EU residents "strongly and unanimously responded to Russia's war of aggression." Also, according to the study:

  • 67% of those surveyed are in favor of Europe gaining more independence from Russian energy, even if it leads to further price increases;
  • 61% want the EU to help Ukraine by supplying weapons in the fight against the occupiers.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Ukraine also received another 1.5 billion euros of budget aid from the European Union. The funds are part of an 18-billion-dollar package and have already entered Ukraine's state accounts. These funds can be spent to cover a "hole" in the budget, but not on military needs.
