The performance impressed Sviatoslav Vakarchuk

Despite the fierce fighting at the frontline, Ukrainian defenders are trying to take care of their mental health and find time for creativity. Musicians of the military orchestra of the 28th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign conquered the network by performing the track "Obijmy" by the band Okean Elzy. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the band's frontman Sviatoslav Vakarchuk has been travelling to hot spots to perform for the soldiers.

A video of the cover appeared on the Operational Armed Forces of Ukraine Telegram channel, and later on the Okean Elzy Facebook page. The footage shows Ukraine's heroes playing the accordion, guitar, violin and saxophone (to watch the video, scroll to the end of the page).

"Thank you for this performance, talented, real, ours! Everything is thanks to you," the band thanked the soldiers for their choice of song, as well as their courage and resilience. The single "Obijmy" has become more relevant than ever in wartime, as it contains important lines for each of us: "When the day comes, the war will end...".

"Thank you for defending Ukraine! Talented people are talented in everything! Bravo!", "Thank you to the sincere, selfless, brave talents who, in those conditions, keep a clear mind, unity of spirit and make the mood for others", "This song has always brought tears to my eyes, and in this performance it just breaks my soul. Thank you! You are the best! May God bless you!" netizens wrote under the video.

By the way, on March 3, 2023, Vakarchuk and Massive Attack's leader Robert Del Naja surprised the audience with a joint remix of the same song. The new version of the favourite track was released in support of Ukraine. All proceeds were donated to rebuild destroyed houses in the Kyiv region.

OBOZREVATEL recently wrote that fatherhood saved Sviatoslav Vakarchuk during the war. The musician admitted that the birth of his heirs gave him additional motivation to fight for victory so that his children could grow up in a free and independent country. To learn more, follow the link.
