The goalkeeper of the Charlton Athletic football club, which plays in the English Premier League, was injured by a fallen goal. Joseph Wollacott was born in England but represents the Ghanaian national team.
In preparation for the African Cup of Nations qualifying match against Angola at the Talaton Central Stadium, the 26-year-old goalkeeper took part in a training match for the national team. The players were playing in half of the pitch and one of the goals was portable.

At some point, the unsecured structure fell on Joseph, hitting his leg. According to local media reports, Wollacott suffered soft tissue damage to the toe on his right foot.
Joseph Wollacott made his debut for Ghana in October 2021, receiving his first call-up to the Ghana national team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe. Wollacott was also part of the Ghanaian squad at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
