Legendary Liverpool footballer Steven Gerrard has criticised Chelsea's Mykhailo Mudryk's performance in the match between Ukraine and England in the 2024 European Championship qualifiers. The former captain of the Three Lions emphasised that the young winger of our team underperformed in the episode with Gareth Kane's goal.

Gerrard said this on Channel 4, writes the Mirror. He added that in the place of Ruslan Rotan, who led the Ukrainian team in the match against the British, he would have felt very disappointed with Mudryk's performance, because he clearly did not fulfil the plan for the game.

"From the point of view of Ukraine, England played fantastically because their game was open, but if you were Mudryk's coach, you would probably be disappointed. With all due respect, he is still learning to play. But knowing that when you need to restrain Sak, you can't let him handle the ball under his left foot, because that's his magic wand. But in the episode with England's first goal, that's exactly what happened," Gerrard said.

It will be recalled that the Ukrainian national team lost to England without a chance at the start of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. The acting coach of the Blue and Yellows Ruslan Rotan revealed the team's plan for the game.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the fans of the Ukrainian and English national teams performed the national anthem of our country at Wembley during the match on March 26. Dynamo Kyiv legend Jozsef Szabo criticised Rotan for putting Yevhen Konoplyanka on the pitch.
