Spathiphyllum will bloom against all odds: just follow six simple rules
How to care for spathiphyllum

Spathiphyllum or peace lily is not only an exquisite but also a useful houseplant. Researchers say that spathiphyllum effectively removes harmful substances such as toluene and xylene from the air and also has a positive effect on the humidity level in the home, reducing condensation and preventing mold.

In general, these flowers are unpretentious in their care. However, in cold weather, they can lack sunlight and nutrients. Experts told us about six simple rules to help prolong the flowering of spathiphyllum.

Rule 1

Maryam Ghani, brand manager of Haute Florist, emphasized that peace lilies thrive in bright indirect light, which makes them ideal for city apartments.

The sun's rays can burn the delicate leaves, so it is better to place the container with flowers in a shaded place.

Rule 2

Spathiphyllums prefer moist soil. However, be careful as excessive watering can lead to waterlogging, root rot, and the development of fungal diseases.

When watering, make sure that excess water can go away through the drainage holes. Spathiphyllums are very susceptible to root rot. This disease is fatal to plants.

Rule 3

The peace lily loves tropical conditions, so florists recommend paying attention to the humidity level. To do this, place a tray of water near the plant or spray the leaves regularly to create the perfect environment.

Rule 4

For long flowering, spathiphyllum must be properly fed during the growing season.

"During the growing season, from spring to early fall, feed the plant with a balanced liquid fertilizer every six to eight weeks," Ghani advised.

This will ensure that the plant gets the nutrients it needs to maintain healthy leaves and vibrant blooms.

Rule 5

Spathiphyllum also needs regular pruning to help stimulate new growth. Remove yellow or brown leaves as soon as they begin to appear, and be sure to cut off any faded flowers.

Rule 6

Protecting plants from pests is essential for their overall health, so inspect leaves, flowers, and substrate regularly.

Spathiphyllums are often attacked by spider mites and aphids. If you notice pests, gently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth or treat them with insecticidal soap.
