A shelter bus stop built using 3D printing technology will appear in Kyiv. The project was presented by the Ukrainian architectural studio Makhno Studio.
The founder of the studio, Serhiy Makhno, announced this on his Instagram page. The exact timing of the civil protection facility is unknown.
"This is a shelter stop. It will be a reliable escape for residents of Ukrainian cities, providing protection from shelling and debris. The key thing is that the project is made using 3D printing technology, which makes it possible to very quickly produce and scale samples throughout the country," the statement said.
According to him, the concrete mix for the construction of the shelter has been thoroughly tested for strength and ability to protect against debris. And the futuristic and innovative design of the bus stop will fit into any urban landscape.
"The first such stop should appear in Kyiv soon, and then the project can be scaled up with the assistance of local authorities, communities and partners. This is a project that the country needs right now. Therefore, I personally invite the authorities, the public, commercial and non-profit organisations to cooperate for the safety of every Ukrainian," Makhno concluded.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the inspection of civil protection facilities has been completed in Kyiv. More than 3,000 (65%) premises were found to be suitable as shelters, and another 21% could be so if equipped.
