"The Lavra in the use of the UOC MP are portraits of Russian emperors (in the photo - Emperor Nicholas II and his wife Alice of Hesse. - Ed.), which probably "guarded" the Monastery. None of this is surprising anymore," Tkachenko wrote.
The minister added that the Reserve Commission went into the Lower Lavra today and inspected and sealed 3 rooms: 70 (Residence of Metropolitan Onufry), 69, 71. Specialists recorded complete disregard for sanitary and fire safety standards.
Earlier, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine decided to unilaterally terminate the contract with the male monastery of the Holy Assumption Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. UOC MP monks were to leave the territory of the Lavra by July 4.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, on Tuesday, July 4, a special commission of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine again arrived at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. Its representatives were going to seal several buildings of the reserve, but the believers and monks of UOC-MP started to prevent them.
