On the night of March 12 to 13 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles (USA), the long-awaited ceremony for the most prestigious film award, Oscar 2023, took place. Critics have chosen the best actor of the year.
Outperforming his four competitors, Brendan Fraser won in the category "Best Actor" for "The Whale. It became known to OBOZREVATEL while watching a live broadcast of the ceremony on the "Suspіlne Kultura" channel.

Brendan Fraser is an American and Canadian theater, film, and television actor and producer. He is best known for his role as Rick O'Connell in the Mummy trilogy of films, as well as for Blast from the Past, George of the Jungle, Blinded by Desire, The Clash, and The Whale.
In "The Whale," Fraser plays the role of an obese man named Charlie, who weighs about 300 pounds. To play Charlie, the actor not only gained extra pounds but also wore special overlays on the set, increasing the weight.
